CVE-2023-2858Public exploit

Crash via out-of-bounds NetScaler record-size read

Published May 26, 2023 · Updated Nov 3, 2025

Heap out-of-bounds read in Wireshark 3.6.0 through 3.6.13 and 4.0.0 through 4.0.5 allows attackers to crash it via a crafted capture file. The nstrace_read_v10 parser passes a record-size pointer with only one buffered byte remaining to a helper that reads two bytes. Opening the malformed NetScaler trace is required; processing it can terminate the Wireshark or TShark process.
