Local cdr crash via invalid parameter overflow
Published Dec 9, 2023 · Updated Sep 16, 2024
Heap buffer overflow in IBM Informix Dynamic Server cdr 12.10 and 14.10 allows local users to crash the utility with invalid parameters. The cdr utility fails to bounds-check an invalid parameter before writing to a heap buffer. Invoking the local command is sufficient; the resulting segmentation fault interrupts that cdr process, with no reported code execution or data modification.
