CVE-2023-28465Network attack vector

Arbitrary file writes via partial-path Zip Slip

Published Dec 12, 2023 · Updated May 27, 2025

Path traversal in HL7 FHIR Core Libraries before 5.6.106 allows remote attackers to write arbitrary files into sibling directories. TerminologyCacheManager normalizes each ZIP entry to an absolute path, then applies a string prefix check against the cache path without enforcing a directory boundary. A crafted destination that merely begins with the allowed cache-directory string passes the guard, limiting writes to sibling directories with matching prefixes.
