Server file disclosure via unchecked export paths
Published Apr 20, 2023 · Updated Feb 5, 2025
Path traversal in pretalx before 2.3.2 allows remote authenticated users to read server files through the static HTML export. The get_mediastatic_content function joins an asset URL to MEDIA_ROOT or STATIC_ROOT and opens the result without verifying that the resolved path remains inside either root. The off-by-default export must be enabled and generated, and disclosure is limited to files readable by the pretalx process.
