CVE-2023-28441

Credential disclosure via plaintext failed-login logging

Published Mar 23, 2023 · Updated Feb 25, 2025

Credential exposure in Invernyx smartCARS 3 0.5.8 and earlier allows local users to read passwords from error logs. When a login attempt fails, the application's error-logging path writes the submitted password in plaintext to the affected log file. Exploitation requires access to the local log; exposed credentials can then be read, while no direct data modification or service interruption is established.
