CVE-2023-28432Known exploitationPublic exploitNetwork attack vector

Credential disclosure via unauthenticated bootstrap verification

Published Mar 22, 2023 · Updated Oct 21, 2025

Information disclosure in MinIO before RELEASE.2023-03-20T20-16-18Z allows remote attackers to read environment secrets from clusters. The bootstrap VerifyHandler serializes ServerSystemConfig without validating the request, and getServerSystemCfg copies unhashed MINIO_ values into that response. Exposure requires a reachable distributed deployment and can reveal root passwords, access keys, and other service credentials.
