Denial of service via event-key prototype pollution
Published Mar 28, 2023 · Updated Feb 18, 2025
Prototype pollution in The Matrix.org Foundation matrix-js-sdk before 24.0.0 allows remote attackers to disrupt event processing. In certain configurations, event handling accepts special strings in key positions as object attributes and thereby modifies Object.prototype. A remote server must supply a crafted event; demonstrated effects include denial of service and corrupted or excluded runtime data.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
