Process crash via unchecked OD-frame parse failure
Published May 22, 2023 · Updated Jan 21, 2025
NULL pointer dereference in GPAC before 2.2.2 allows local users to crash MP4Box by dashing a crafted media file. gf_isom_fragment_add_sample_ex fails to stop when Media_ParseODFrame returns no OD sample, then dereferences the null result while rewriting OD frames. Local execution of MP4Box against attacker-supplied media is required; the demonstrated consequence is a process crash, with no demonstrated code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
