CVE-2023-28352

Unauthenticated security bypass via payloadless discovery packets

Published May 30, 2023 · Updated Jan 13, 2025

Incorrect authorization in Faronics Insight 10.0.19045 on Windows allows remote attackers to bypass Enhanced Security over the local network. The UDP discovery handler accepts DISCO, RESP, and START packets that omit the encoded security payload, completes the handshake, and connects an artificial Student Console to the Teacher Console. An unauthenticated attacker on the adjacent network can then exercise other console attack paths despite lacking the configured Enhanced Security key.
