Unauthenticated command execution via unsanitized timezone parameter
Published Mar 14, 2023 · Updated Feb 27, 2025
OS command injection in APsystems Altenergy Power Control Software C1.2.5 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary system commands. The set_timezone method in models/management_model.php inserts the POSTed timezone value into a cp command and passes it to system() without neutralizing shell metacharacters. The unauthenticated HTTP endpoint executes commands with the web service's privileges, exposing ECU data and operation to attacker-controlled commands.
