CVE-2023-28338

Service interruption via unbounded multipart body write

Published Mar 15, 2023 · Updated Feb 27, 2025

Resource exhaustion in NETGEAR RAX30 firmware before 1.0.10.94 allows remote attackers to make the router unusable until reboot. The web service treats a multipartboundary Content-Type value as a trigger to write the entire request body to /tmp/mulipartFile without a documented size bound. Exploitation requires the Wi-Fi password or an Ethernet connection to the local network, and a sufficiently large body exhausts device resources.
