CVE-2023-28316Network attack vector

Persistent account access via unrevoked sessions

Published May 9, 2023 · Updated Jan 28, 2025

Session invalidation failure in Rocket.Chat allows remote attackers with a compromised session to retain account access after 2FA activation. The 2FA activation path leaves other active session tokens valid instead of revoking them. Exploitation requires an already compromised active session; it preserves that session's existing access but does not itself disclose credentials or bypass the initial login.
