Code execution via DOCX out-of-bounds write
Published Apr 11, 2023 · Updated Feb 28, 2025
Heap-based buffer overflow in Microsoft Word in affected Office releases allows attackers to execute code via a crafted DOCX file. The DOCX parser accepts crafted data that writes past the end of an allocated heap buffer. Exploitation requires the target to open the file or visit a malicious page, and successful code runs in the context of the current Word process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
