Remote code execution via DNS use-after-free
Published Apr 11, 2023 · Updated Jan 23, 2025
Use-after-free in Microsoft Windows DNS Server allows remote authenticated users with administrative privileges to execute arbitrary code. Microsoft has not published the affected function, object lifetime error, or network input sequence that triggers access to freed memory. Exploitation requires the DNS Server role and high privileges; successful exploitation runs attacker-controlled code in the DNS service context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
