Code execution via SKP parser use-after-free
Published Apr 11, 2023 · Updated Feb 28, 2025
Use-after-free in affected Microsoft Office releases allows remote attackers to execute code when a user opens a malicious SKP file. The SKP parser operates on an object without first validating that it still exists, allowing reuse of freed memory. Exploitation requires the target to visit a malicious page or open a malicious file and runs code in the current Office process.
