Code execution during concurrent PPPoE dialing
Published Apr 11, 2023 · Updated Jan 23, 2025
Remote code execution in Microsoft Windows PPPoE allows unauthenticated adjacent-network attackers to run code during a PPPoE connection. Microsoft maps the flaw to improperly locked sensitive memory but has not published the affected function or exact unsafe operation. Exploitation requires user interaction and precise timing while the target initiates PPPoE dialing, after which attacker-controlled code can compromise the host.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
