Reflected XSS via unescaped logout URL
Published May 20, 2023 · Updated Feb 12, 2025
Reflected XSS in Ellucian Ethos Identity 5.10.0 through 5.10.5 allows remote attackers to execute script through a logout URL. The /cas/logout handler inserts the url parameter into an href attribute without safely encoding quotes and angle brackets, permitting injected SVG image elements and onerror handlers. A victim must follow a crafted logout link in a CAS deployment; injected script runs in the Ethos Identity origin and can alter page content or access browser data available to that origin.
