CVE-2023-28134

SYSTEM code execution via Remediation Service symlink

Published Nov 12, 2023 · Updated Sep 3, 2024

Local privilege escalation in Check Point Harmony Endpoint allows local users to execute arbitrary code as SYSTEM through Remediation Service abuse. The service follows an attacker-created symbolic link and changes the DACL on the linked folder, allowing attacker-controlled code to gain SYSTEM rights. Low-privileged code execution on the endpoint is required, and successful exploitation gives full SYSTEM-context code execution.
