Script execution via unescaped search results
Published Sep 4, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Reflected XSS in affected WordPress themes allows remote attackers to execute scripts in users' browsers through crafted search links. The themes place the s query parameter into search-results markup without sufficient input sanitization or output escaping. Execution requires a user to follow the crafted link, after which the script runs in the affected site's browser origin and can read or modify page-accessible data.
