Local privilege escalation via unchecked RPC process launch
Published Aug 10, 2023 · Updated Oct 9, 2024
Local privilege escalation in Ivanti Desktop & Server Management 2022.2 SU2 and earlier allows local users to execute OS commands. The enteo task execution RPC method in mgmtagnt.exe passes caller-controlled application, command-line, and working-directory strings directly to CreateProcessW without checking local administrator membership. Any low-privileged local account can invoke the ncalrpc-only method and run arbitrary processes as the DSM software installation user.
