Server crash via unchecked Digest parameter reads
Published Mar 15, 2023 · Updated Feb 25, 2025
Improper input validation in OpenSIPS before 3.1.7 and 3.2.0 through 3.2.3 allows remote attackers to crash the SIP server. The parse_param_name function in parser/digest/param_parser.c advances across a Digest parameter and performs fixed-width reads without first checking that enough header bytes remain. An unauthenticated crafted Authorization header reaches this parser only in configurations that invoke affected authentication functions such as www_authorize, and a successful request interrupts the server.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
