Firmware memory disclosure via oversized NVRAM variable
Published Jun 23, 2023 · Updated Nov 8, 2024
Information disclosure in Dell Client Platform BIOS allows local administrators to read firmware memory through a crafted UEFI variable. In an affected LaunchPad3Drv DXE module, GetVariable overwrites DataSize when BIQ_BOOT_INTERRUPTION exceeds eight bytes, and SetVariable reuses that length to copy adjacent stack or global memory into the NVRAM variable. Administrative firmware-variable access is required; the disclosed data can assist later compromise of DXE execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
