CVE-2023-28035

Firmware memory disclosure via oversized UEFI variable

Published Jun 23, 2023 · Updated Nov 8, 2024

Information disclosure in Dell Client Platform BIOS allows physically proximate attackers to expose firmware memory through a UEFI variable. The Setup DXE module accepts an oversized SiSetup variable, lets GetVariable overwrite DataSize, and passes that length to SetVariable for SiColdReset. Administrator-level firmware access is required; successful exploitation copies stack or global memory into NVRAM for later retrieval.
