CVE-2023-27993

Directory deletion via CLI relative path traversal

Published May 3, 2023 · Updated Oct 22, 2024

Relative path traversal in the FortiADC CLI allows local users with high privileges to delete arbitrary directories using crafted commands. The CLI directory-deletion handling fails to confine relative path components to the intended directory, allowing traversal into underlying filesystem paths. A privileged CLI session is required; successful exploitation removes attacker-selected directories and can impair appliance operation.
