Private event disclosure via unchecked numeric identifiers
Published Jul 10, 2023 · Updated Feb 13, 2025
Missing authorization in EventON before 2.1.2 allows remote attackers to read private and password-protected events through ICS requests. The eventon_ics_download AJAX action accepts a caller-supplied numeric event_id and returns event data without authenticating the caller or enforcing the event's visibility controls. Network access to the WordPress AJAX endpoint and a guessed event identifier are sufficient; the exposed content is limited to the targeted event's ICS data.
