CVE-2023-27930

Kernel code execution via type confusion

Published Jun 23, 2023 · Updated Dec 5, 2024

Kernel type confusion in Apple iOS, iPadOS, macOS, tvOS, and watchOS allows local users to execute arbitrary code with kernel privileges. The Kernel component performs insufficient type checks and treats a resource as an incompatible type; Apple has not disclosed the affected function or input path. Execution of a locally installed app and user interaction are required, after which attacker-controlled code runs with kernel privileges and can compromise the device.
