Authenticated post modification via unchecked dialog parameters
Published Jun 16, 2023 · Updated Dec 6, 2024
Missing authorization in Mattermost before 7.10.1 allows remote authenticated users to edit arbitrary channel posts through /dialog. The playbook-run creation handler accepts unvalidated dialog parameters and uses them to select a post for editing without checking authorization. Any authenticated account can alter content in a channel post it is not otherwise permitted to edit, limiting the reported impact to integrity.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
