Stored XSS via unescaped plugin dependency version
Published Mar 8, 2023 · Updated Feb 28, 2025
Stored XSS in Jenkins 2.270 through 2.393 and LTS 2.277.1 through 2.375.3 allows remote attackers to run script in a user's browser. The plugin manager inserts a plugin's required Jenkins version into an incompatibility error without escaping the value. Exploitation requires attacker-controlled plugin metadata at a configured update site and a user viewing the resulting message; installation is unnecessary.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
