Arbitrary file write via unrestricted resource upload
Published Jun 7, 2023 · Updated Jan 6, 2025
Unrestricted file upload in PTC Vuforia Studio before 9.9 allows remote authenticated users to write files anywhere on the host disk. The Upload Resource handler fails to confine its file-write destination to the intended resource directory, allowing an authenticated upload to escape that boundary. Access requires a highly privileged account, and successful exploitation places attacker-controlled content in arbitrary filesystem locations.
