Remote code execution via traversed upload filename
Published Mar 21, 2023 · Updated Feb 25, 2025
Path traversal in affected Rockwell Automation ThinManager ThinServer 6.x through 13.0.1 releases allows remote attackers to overwrite executables. ThinServer accepts the file_name in type 7 or 35 synchronization messages without restricting the destination before writing supplied fdata. TCP port 2031 is reachable without authentication; overwriting an executable grants code execution when that file runs.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
