CVE-2023-27854

Code execution via malicious-file buffer overflow

Published Oct 27, 2023 · Updated Sep 10, 2024

Out-of-bounds read in Rockwell Automation Arena Simulation before 16.20.02 allows attackers to execute code through a malicious file. The vendor identifies a memory-buffer overflow but does not disclose the affected parser, file format, or unsafe read operation. Execution requires a user to open the attacker-supplied file, after which code runs with the application's privileges and can expose or alter data or interrupt service.
