Code execution via oversized CGI JSON bodies
Published Mar 10, 2023 · Updated Feb 27, 2025
Buffer overflow in NETGEAR RAX30 firmware before 1.0.10.94 allows remote attackers on the local network to execute arbitrary code. The reset_pwd.cgi, tm_block.cgi, and rex_cgi handlers parse JSON request bodies beyond a 4,097-byte buffer boundary, causing an overflow and segmentation fault. Wi-Fi credentials or Ethernet access is required; two handlers need no administrator login, while reliable code execution requires chaining another flaw to overcome ASLR.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
