Remote code execution via unsanitized command option
Published Apr 24, 2023 · Updated Feb 4, 2025
Command injection in rails-routes-to-json 1.0.0 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary operating-system commands through consuming apps. The package constructor passes the options command value to child_process.exec without sanitizing shell metacharacters. Exploitation requires another application to include the package and pass attacker-controlled input into that option; commands run with the application process privileges.
