Authenticated root command execution via diagnostic ping
Published Apr 12, 2023 · Updated Feb 8, 2025
OS command injection in SeowonIntech SWC 5100W firmware 1.11.0.1 and 1.9.9.4 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands. The diagnostic.cgi ping handler passes the ping_ipaddr parameter to doSystem() without neutralizing shell metacharacters, so a semicolon-delimited value runs attacker-supplied Unix shell commands. Access to the router's authenticated web interface is required, and successful exploitation executes commands with root privileges, enabling complete device takeover.
