Authenticated command execution via unsafe SpEL evaluation
Published Mar 28, 2023 · Updated Feb 18, 2025
Expression language injection in Databasir 1.0.7 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary operating-system commands. SpelScriptEvaluator parses the unfiltered mockDataScript value with SpelExpressionParser under a permissive StandardEvaluationContext, then calls getValue on the resulting expression. Reachability requires SYS_OWNER, GROUP_OWNER, or GROUP_MEMBER authority for the targeted group, and successful exploitation runs commands with the Databasir server process's privileges.
