CVE-2023-27789Public exploit

Application crash via empty CIDR argument

Published Mar 16, 2023 · Updated Feb 26, 2025

Reachable assertion in AppNeta tcpprep 4.4.3 allows local users to crash the application with an empty CIDR argument. In CIDR-split mode, parse_cidr passes the null result of tokenizing the empty string to cidr2cidr, whose non-null CIDR assertion aborts the process. Exploitation requires local command-line execution of tcpprep with an empty --cidr value and interrupts only that application process.
