CVE-2023-27784Public exploit

Local tcprewrite crash via empty user-dlink input

Published Mar 16, 2023 · Updated Feb 26, 2025

NULL pointer dereference in AppNeta Tcpreplay 4.4.3 allows local users to crash tcprewrite through a crafted invocation. The read_hexstring function passes a NULL token from an empty --user-dlink value to sscanf while processing a DLT_USER0 packet capture. Exploitation requires local command execution with both the empty option and a crafted capture; only the invoked process is shown to crash.
