Code execution via installer search-path hijacking
Published Apr 4, 2023 · Updated Feb 13, 2025
Untrusted search path in Wondershare Creative Centerr 1.0.8 allows attackers to execute arbitrary code through its Windows installer. The installer searches for and loads a dependency from an untrusted location, enabling a planted library to run; public details do not identify the dependency or search order. Exploitation requires local placement of the library and user interaction to launch the installer, after which the code runs with the installer process's privileges.
