Code execution via avatar upload type bypass
Published Mar 15, 2023 · Updated Feb 27, 2025
Arbitrary file upload in PerfreeBlog 3.1.1 allows remote attackers to execute code through a crafted avatar upload. The /admin/user/uploadImg endpoint relies on front-end image-type restrictions, allowing an intercepted request to restore a malicious filename suffix after presenting the payload as JPG. A self-registered account can reach the avatar workflow, and successful execution compromises the web application host.
