Application crash via unbounded chunk-content copy
Published Mar 22, 2023 · Updated Feb 26, 2025
Stack-based buffer overflow in vox2mesh 1.0 allows local users to crash the application by processing a crafted VOX file. VoxReader::readChunk copies a file-controlled chunkContentSize value from the chunk body into stack storage without limiting the copy to the destination size. Exploitation requires the application to process the malicious file and interrupts only that process through a stack-overflow abort.
