Unauthenticated code execution via unchecked request length
Published Apr 9, 2023 · Updated Feb 12, 2025
Stack overflow in D-Link DIR-878 firmware 1.30B08 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code or crash the router via a crafted request. The sub_478360 function passes a user-provided parameter into a stack-buffer operation without checking its length, allowing oversized data to overwrite the buffer. No authentication or user interaction is required; successful exploitation permits remote code execution or interrupts routing service through a crash.
