CVE-2023-27635Public exploit

Arbitrary command execution via evaluated package filenames

Published Mar 5, 2023 · Updated Mar 6, 2025

Shell injection in debmany in Debian Goodies 0.88.1 allows attackers to execute arbitrary commands through a crafted .deb file. debmany inserts filenames extracted from the untrusted archive into printf-generated command strings and passes those strings to shell eval. Exploitation requires a user to open the crafted package and confirm the displayed path; injected commands run with that user's privileges.
