Stored XSS via unescaped proxy error response
Published Mar 17, 2023 · Updated Feb 25, 2025
Stored XSS in Miniflux 2 2.0.25 through 2.0.42 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript through a crafted RSS feed. The image proxy handler passes a failed outbound request to html.ServerError, which returns the attacker-controlled invalid URL unescaped and without the normal Content Security Policy header. Execution requires the victim to open the broken image; the script acts with that Miniflux user's privileges and gains administrative control when the victim is an administrator.
