CVE-2023-27585Network attack vector

Application crash via unchecked DNS packet parsing

Published Mar 14, 2023 · Updated Nov 4, 2025

Heap buffer overflow in PJSIP PJPROJECT 2.13 and earlier allows remote attackers to crash applications via crafted DNS responses. The published record identifies parse_query(); linked dns.c fixes add missing packet-boundary checks before parsing encoded names and fixed-size DNS fields. Only applications configured to use the built-in PJSIP DNS resolver are exposed, and successful exploitation interrupts that application.
