Credential disclosure via unauthenticated backup service API
Published Mar 10, 2023 · Updated Oct 21, 2025
Missing authentication in Veeam Backup & Replication allows remote attackers to obtain encrypted configuration-database credentials. The Veeam.Backup.Service.exe API on TCP 9401 accepts credential-list and decryption requests without a valid authentication token, returning credentials in recoverable form. Network access to the backup infrastructure is sufficient, and the disclosed credentials enable access to managed backup hosts.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
