CVE-2023-27529

Root code execution via attacker-prepared filesystem link

Published May 25, 2023 · Updated Jan 16, 2025

Link-following in Wacom Tablet Driver installer before 6.4.2-1 for macOS allows local users to execute arbitrary code as root. The installer follows a filesystem link prepared by the malicious script before a privileged file operation; the affected path and operation are undisclosed. Exploitation requires a user to run the script before launching the affected installer, after which attacker-controlled code executes with root privileges.
