CVE-2023-27501Network attack vector

System file deletion via unvalidated service paths

Published Mar 14, 2023 · Updated Feb 27, 2025

Directory traversal in affected SAP NetWeaver AS for ABAP and ABAP Platform releases allows remote authenticated users to delete system files. An available service accepts user-provided path information without sufficient validation before applying a file-deletion operation outside its intended directory. High SAP privileges are required; the flaw cannot read data, but deletion of critical operating-system files can make the system unavailable.
