System file overwrite via unconstrained output paths
Published Mar 14, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Path traversal in SAPRSBRO allows remote authenticated users to overwrite system files on affected SAP NetWeaver AS for ABAP releases. SAPRSBRO fails to constrain attacker-supplied path components to an authorized directory before opening the destination for writing. Non-administrative authorization is required; the flaw cannot read files, but overwriting critical operating-system files can make the host unavailable.
