Pod crash via unchecked Composition patch index
Published Mar 9, 2023 · Updated Feb 25, 2025
Denial of service in Crossplane before 1.9.2, 1.10.0 through 1.10.2, and 1.11.0 through 1.11.1 allows remote authenticated users to crash its pod. When a selected Composite Resource evaluates a Composition patch, fieldpath grows the target slice to an unchecked ToFieldPath array index as high as 4294967295. The attack requires high privileges to create or update Compositions, and the resulting memory exhaustion causes the Crossplane pod to be OOM-killed.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=>= 1.10.0, < 1.10.3
- Affected versionversion=>= 1.11.0, < 1.11.2
