Service crash via unbounded slice index growth
Published Mar 9, 2023 · Updated Feb 25, 2025
Uncontrolled resource consumption in Crossplane crossplane-runtime before 0.16.1 and 0.17.0 through 0.19.1 allows remote attackers to crash services. Paved.SetValue accepts an unvalidated field-path index and expands the target slice to that index, permitting allocations up to a uint32-sized index. Exposure requires a consuming application to pass attacker-controlled paths to Paved.SetValue without its own index validation; applications that do not call this method are unaffected.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
